Delight in the rich flavors of Oaxaca with these delicious quesadillas, featuring Juanita’s Queso Blanco Oaxaca Cheese Sauce. Perfectly fried tortillas filled with creamy cheese and savory beans make for a satisfying and flavorful meal.
Ingredients:
- 1 (15 oz.) can Juanita’s Queso Blanco Oaxaca Cheese Sauce
- 1 kg. tortilla flour
- 1.5-2 cups warm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 300 grams refried beans (you can add chorizo for a better flavor)
- Epazote or oregano leaves
- 1/2 red onion, cut into strips
- 3 serrano chili, cut into strips
- 2 cups oil for frying
- Cream
- Lettuce, cut into julienne
- Green or red spicy sauce
Step by step:
- In a bowl, mix the tortilla flour with 1.5-2 cups of warm water and a pinch of salt until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into golf ball-sized portions.
- Slice strips of red onion and serrano chiles.
- Flatten each dough portion using a tortilla press or roller to form tortillas.
- Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
- On each tortilla, add two tablespoons of Juanita’s Queso Blanco Oaxaca Cheese Sauce, one tablespoon of refried beans, strips of red onion, serrano chiles and epazote or oregano leaf. Fold the tortilla in half to enclose the filling.
- Fry each quesadilla in the hot oil until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve the quesadillas topped with cream, fresh lettuce, and your choice of green or red spicy sauce.
